Artists For Humanity: The Path to Social Change

Abigail Ogilvy Gallery is proud to present Artists For Humanity: The Path to Social Change, a group show featuring works by current Artists For Humanity (AFH) youth and alumni. Join us in celebrating AFH’s 25 years of building a positive, progressive community in our city.
Artists For Humanity has played a significant role in the Boston arts scene, cultivating the next generation of artists while contributing to the community through public art, murals, corporate art and events throughout the city. AFH not only nurtures teens’ artistic talents, but also creates jobs for under-resourced youth, compensating them for their hard work while teaching them collaboration, entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.

What started off as a small group of teens with a mission—to fight the lack of arts opportunities in the Boston Public School System—AFH now employs 250+ teens annually. AFH has received numerous awards and has been recognized nationally. AFH has set the framework for youth arts enterprise programming on a global scale.

The works featured in this exhibition represent the ideas of social change that Artists For Humanity embodies. Like much of the work conceived within their studios, these pieces were created in response to themes of identity and progress, highlighting the artists’ abilities and impact achieving positive change in their communities.
